FAQ
Can I borrow books from Central Public Library with
the same library card issued from the Branch/Regional Library
and vice-versa?
Once enrolled, you are automatically a member of all the
Public Libraries existing throughout Malta and Gozo. So,
whether you are given a Library Card or a set of Tickets,
you can borrow books from which ever library you want to.
Do I have to return my books from where I borrowed them? YES. Books are to be returned to the same library from which
they were borrowed but can be renewed through any computerised
library or even directly through this web site.
Are there any arrangements for adults wanting to use the
children library for special reasons ? Adults can use the children library in special cases after
asking for a concession
from the librarian. Special consideration is given to persons
working in the Education Sector and to adult clients that
are learning some particular language from scratch. Parents
cannot use their library card for getting extra books for
their children.
Can the general
public order books for personal use through the library itself?
One cannot order books for personal use through the
library but everyone should feel free to suggest any titles
to be added with the present library collection. This does
not mean that every book suggested will be purchased and
added to the collection.
In brief, what are the services offered by the library?
Besides the lending of books the Library offers other interesting
services such as Reference collections, Audio-Visual material,
and collections designed for people with Special Needs. Educational
Programmes are also organised at the Central Public Library
throughout the week together with group orientation visits.
To know more about these services one can contact the Customer
Care Unit.
Can titles be booked?
The library does not reserve items that may be found on
shelve at that particular instant. On the other hand, titles
can be reserved in computerized libraries if all the copies
of the desired title would be out on loan.
