Borrowing of Books
- Once enrolled, a patron can borrow items from all
the Public Libraries both in Malta and Gozo with the same
Library Cards or Tickets.
- One can take out 4 books in
Computerised Libraries while in the other libraries,
adult can take out 3 books and
young members can take out 4
- Books are borrowed for
a period of 3 weeks. Patrons are asked to return the
books before or on the due date
that is stamped on the book.
- A borrowed book is
considered to be overdue by the Library from the day
that follows the due date except
for Public
Holidays. Patrons are thus advised to renew their
books in time if they intend to keep them further.
- No
other books are allowed to be borrowed if any other book
taken out by the same client is overdue.
- One can renew
his books for 3 times provided that none of the books
in question is overdue and that
there exists no reservation on the item in question. Renewals
can be made by phone at the Central Public Library
on the telephone
numbers
mentioned in the contact
information section (and
at the Gozo Lending Library for Gozitans on tel
no: 21553729,
21559451)
or by calling
one of the computerized Regional Libraries mainly
Mosta, Luqa, Qormi, Paola (Rahal Gdid) or Birkirkara.
- It
is the Patron's responsibility to check the books being
taken out for any damages and
to indicate
such
circumstances to the counter staff. Patrons
may be otherwise charged
for the damage when the books are returned.
- The
Library reserves the right to terminate a membership
if the Head of the Library considers
such an action as
necessary.
