Friends of the National
Archives
The Friends of the National Archives of Malta is a voluntary
organisation set up in 1993 aimed at raising public awareness
of the work of the National Archives and of the importance
of preserving documents of historical value.
The Friends arrange activities throughout the year,
aimed at fundraising and the building of a public consciousness
in favour of preserving the country's archival heritage.
Individual or corporate membership of the Friends allows
you to share in activities of the organisation and ensure
that this organisation keeps up its valuable work.
The organisation runs a souvenir/book shop from the
premises of the National Archives in Rabat. It usually
opens its doors during activities organised by the Friends.
Orders to purchase any item available for sale can be
placed by email or post. All income generated by the
Friends is rechannelled into projects aimed at the
preservation of the records held by the National Archives.
The Friends also promote a volunteers scheme which is
co-ordinated by the Head of the National Archives. Volunteers
help by contributions in the form of data input, proof
reading, cataloguing and other initiatives.
