This is a preliminary list of fonds (record groups) open
for research at the National Archives of Malta. All records
in this list are held at the main premises of the National
Archives in Rabat, with the exception of the Law Courts
records. The fonds column lists the letter code assigned
for the particular
fond. The date spans are often approximate dates but
should give a clear indication for research purposes.
The remarks
indicate whether a catalogue is available (as most of
the material still has to be listed), and whether there
are
any limitations on access. In cases where a Series Level
description
