Access
- The National Library is only a reference and research
library.
- A researcher or visitor to the National Library
is requested to report at the Reception Desk near the
main entrance.
- Access to the National Library is granted
to persons carrying an identification document, such
as an official
identity
card or passport.
- Large groups of visitors are only
allowed into the Visitors' area.
- A reader or visitor
is obliged to deposit bags of any size and other objects,
such as cameras, compact
disc or
cassette players or similar equipment on entering
the Library building in the security area reserved
for that purpose.
- A researcher is given a 'RESEARCHER'
identification tag which must be worn at all times. This
allows
the researcher
access to the readers' area in the Reading Room.
- A
visitor is given a 'VISITOR' identification tag and is
only allowed up to the exhibition
area in the
Reading
Room.
- It is forbidden to introduce printed
documents, such as books, syllabi and periodical publications
into the
Reading
Room unless these are first checked by the
officers of the Library at the Reception
Desk.
- Children under 15 years of age are not
allowed into the readers' area in the Reading
Room.
- Mobile phones are not used inside
the Reading Room.
- Eating or drinking
are not permitted in the Reading Room.
- Smoking is
not permitted in any part of the Library.
- Library staff
does not undertake research on behalf of individuals.
Researchers
should call
personally
at the Library
to undertake such research.
- The
taking of photographs or video recordings in the National
Library
is prohibited except
with the
specific
permission
of the Director.
- A researcher
is requested to present any personal material
taken
out of
the Reading
Room, such
as photocopies and hand-written
notes, to the officers of the
Library before leaving the
Library premises.
- The Director may expel any
visitor or user who fails
to respect the
regulations imposed
by the
Library, or who does
not behave in a satisfactory
manner in the Library.
