Reader's Service

This section deals directly with the readers visiting the Library and guides them in using the research tools available.

Catalogues

As the Library is a closed access Library, the Readers' Services Unit provides retrieval service of the material requested. It also provides a reproduction service of Library material, both in the form of photocopies and microfilms. Seven microfilm readers have been installed in the Reading Room to cope with the ever-growing demand from readers to view material that has already been microfilmed. Reproduction of manuscripts and newspapers may only be done from microfilms. Already available on microfilm are the newspaper collection, Government Gazettes, the manuscripts belonging to the Archives of the Order of St. John and most of the Università documents. Library manuscripts, rare books and the collection of maps and plans are currently in the process of being microfilmed. Where microfilms are not available, manuscripts and rare books are scanned.
